Permits In No Time Inc. started in 2004, three years before I decided to incorporate in 2007. I remember walking into the Department of Transportation for the first time on a cold, foggy November morning. I had taken an office job at a notoriously difficult office because I needed the money for the gift giving season. I had several friends try to work at this place, only to be running for the door within weeks or months after they were hired. I’ll keep these bosses identities to myself, best not to poke the bears.

Needless to say, I mentally prepared for some serious abuse from my new bosses and figured I’d do it for the experience in a new field. I expected the yelling and the big personalities, I did not expect the flying pens. The only preparation/training I received was a stack of papers and an address to “go figure it out”. Once I got there, it was a loud, fast-paced atmosphere with clear rules of engagement. On one side, you had the city agency, hellbent on finding that one piece of information you seem to have forgotten. It literally feels like they get great joy out of finding that one missing piece of your almost perfectly executed application. Sigh, better luck next time.

On the other side, the people fighting the good fight, the expediters. These expediters were like veteran soldiers, helping their clients obtain permits and approvals while guiding the expediter newbies (that was me) to make less errors when applying to work on a city street. Their input was invaluable, as it set the tone for all my future dealings with DOT. I was instantly hooked. I clearly had a lot to learn, but with each new job, a new truth was revealed to me and my skills grew over time. I always remember my small beginnings, they give me great joy as I can look at the long road behind me and be thankful for all the work I’ve done. Today, I am President of Permits In No Time Inc. and remain as committed as ever to making sure our clients get exactly what their project requires to build efficiently.
